A beautiful kitchen with things all over the counters is just… not beautiful anymore. You need real storage like drawers with dividers, cabinets that actually hold items, organizers that make sense. Otherwise you’re constantly moving piles of stuff around and it always looks messy.

4. Choose Kelvin/CRI: Stick to one consistent color temperature family across all fixtures.

Quick numbers and rules make planning kitchen lighting way less annoying. Don’t overcomplicate it.

Here’s what actually matters:

Recessed lights: Space them about half your ceiling height apart. 2.6m ceiling? Put them roughly 1.3m apart. Keep them 40-60cm from the wall above counters or you’ll be working in your own shadow. 40-60° beam angle for general lighting, narrower for accents.

And look, a decent blender does way more than just smoothies. Soups, sauces, nut butter, you can make all these things in like five minutes. It’s honestly one of those appliances that actually earns its spot in a small kitchen.

Plus: They’re easy to keep out on the counter. I stick mine near a little wooden tray with some fruit. Everything’s right there when you need it.

Storage-wise, keep all those little attachments in containers so you’re not hunting for them later. Label them if you need to, that will help you find everything easily.

Your shelves are getting too crowded? I recommend to get some risers or hooks to stack things vertically.

And be smart about safety. Unplug the appliances when you’re done with it. Don’t put hot appliances on surfaces that’ll melt or burn. And please be careful with the sharp bits, you could get hurt seriously.
